The inspirations behind the music of Aborted Ambition are many and varied. Musical influences include David Bowie, the Flaming Lips, and the Pixies. Also mentioned as an inspiration is T-Rex, but it's difficult to be sure if this refers to the British rock band from the 1960s or to the dinosaur.

Aborted Ambition's music is electronic elements under irreverent lyrics and a raw and edgy style. These things combine to create an instantly recognizable, yet completely new, sound and experience.
